BD creates interactive on-line calculator on www.Beverage-Digest.com to compute HFCS costs. Visit www.beverage-digest.com/cgi-bin/hfcs.cgi and enter any price for HFCS-42 or HFCS-55. BD's on-line calculator will compute cost per 288-oz case based on built-in usage data. Calculator created because bottlers and sweetener executives say prices paid by bottlers for HFCS vary widely; one expert notes, "they're all over the map."

Details. Prices reported for 42% HFCS range from about $10 to about $12 per hundredweight (cwt); for Green Sheet printed supplement, BD uses price of $11.15. For 55% HFCS sources report prices of $11.40 to $12.92; BD uses $12. (Any price may be used with on-line calculator.) These prices are dry basis, Midwest delivery. Based on assumed prices, BD calculates cost of sweetener per 288-oz case; for example, $0.248 for Coke Classic and $0.255 for Pepsi-Cola.
