Plans Begin to Emerge for Pepsi's New Enhanced Water.

Pepsi likely introduces "Aquafina Essentials" enhanced water later this spring, say several Pepsi bottlers; add test is possible in some markets earlier (BD 1/25/02). Essentials, as now planned, would be four-flavor line with vitamins and minerals. Product will have "no artificial sweeteners." Flavors under consideration: 1) "Daily C" citrus blend with vitamin C. 2) "Multi V" watermelon-flavored with multiple vitamins. 3) "Calcium +" tangerine-pineapple flavored. 4) "B-Power" berry flavored with B vitamins. Packaging. 20-oz hot-fill PET. View. Pepsi bottler: "It's a great idea. Some people just don't like the taste of pure water, and this will give them a choice. Plus, it will have good things added."

Plus. Coke also expected to introduce four-flavored line of enhanced water called "Dasani Nutriwater" (BD 12/7/01). Test likely soon. Entries by Pepsi and Coke would join other enhanced waters including: Pepsi/Quaker's Propel Fitness water; Dannon Flouride; Reebok Fitness Water; and Glaceau.
