Royal Crown Gets New President: Jack Belsito.

Triarc Beverage Group names Jack Belsito new global president of Royal Crown. Belsito's job covers US, international plus concentrate sales to Cott. Until recently, Belsito served as senior vp corporate development of American Bottling Co (ABC); ABC is 3rd-tier bottler formed this year by Cadbury Schweppes and Carlyle Group to acquire Beverage America and Select. Prior to ABC, Belsito was senior vp business development for Cadbury Schweppes. In previous job, Belsito handled franchise transfers for Cadbury. Belsito reports to Triarc Beverage Group CEO Mike Weinstein.

Weinstein/Belsito. Weinstein says of Belsito: "Jack brings a wealth of soft drink experience, strong relationships with 3rd network bottlers and an innovative and creative mind." Belsito tells BD: "I'm excited about the opportunity with Triarc and with RC." Adds: "Obviously, there's a great deal of work to do. However, there is a talented and dedicated team of professionals in this company and a passionate and loyal bottling community to tap into." Declares: "The goal will be to reverse the trend and begin growing the business again. That's where I'll be focused."

Bottlers. George Kalil -- CEO Tucson-based Kalil Bottling and president of RC Bottlers' Association -- says: "I welcome Jack to the RC family. He is a capable, hardworking person who is honest and forthright." Adds: "RC has the quality, the graphics and the people in place. Jack will bring focus and reinforce the RC brand." Plus. Major 3rd-tier bottler with RC -- who formerly dealt with Belsito over Cadbury franchise issues -- notes: "Jack and I went head-to-head on several occasions. But I like him and respect him." Adds: "This is a good move for RC."

Carson. Until November 1996, John Carson was CEO of RC. When Triarc consolidated Mistic and RC as Triarc Beverage Group, Weinstein became CEO, Carson chairman. Carson undertook development of Triarc's international beverage business. Carson departs Triarc end of August. 3rd-tier bottler: "John is an extremely talented guy and has done a huge amount for the industry."
