Coca-Cola CFO John Murphy, 60, will add the title of president in October, succeeding current President and COO Brian Smith, 66, who will retire in February. “The company is evaluating its future plans for the chief operating officer role,” Coca-Cola said in a statement. The presidents of Coke’s operating units will report to Quincey in the meantime. Murphy will oversee Global Ventures, which includes Costa Coffee; Platform Services, and customer and commercial leadership, according to Coke. He also will oversee Coke’s Online to Offline (O2O) “digital transformation,” Coke stated. (O2O, also known as omnichannel commerce, looks to use data accumulated online to serve customers in retail stores.)

Coca-Cola has appointed former Instacart, Facebook, and Microsoft executive Carolyn Everson to the company’s board of directors. She also spent time previously at Viacom, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Accenture. She is a Harvard Business School graduate.

The Hy-Vee supermarket chain named Aaron Wiese as CEO to succeed Randy Edeker, who remains board chairman. Wiese currently is Hy-Vee’s vice chairman and president of subsidiaries and supply chain. He begins the role in October.
