Keurig Dr Pepper announced it took a minority equity stake in Tractor Beverage, a seller of organic and non-GMO foodservice drinks. KDP also agreed to a long-term, exclusive deal to distribute Tractor in fountain and foodservice accounts. Tractor customers include Chipotle and the University of Michigan. KDP is leading a $60 million funding round, according to Tractor. “The coronavirus pandemic has led to surging demand for organic and sustainable foods, particularly among younger demographics,” Tractor said in a statement, citing data from Ecovia Intelligence. “Gen Z has shown a preference for healthy eating, including more organic and natural foods that are free of additives.”
Coca-Cola Femsa has agreed to distribute Campari Group alcohol products in Brazil, according to news reports. Campari spirits brands include Skyy vodka, Aperol, and Wild Turkey.
Jones Soda has agreed to an acquisition by plant-based consumer product marketer Simply Better Brands. The new company, which will take Jones Soda’s name, will focus on packaged food and beverage products, packaged CBD-
and THC-infused products, and health and beauty products.
Lemon Perfect closed a $31 million investment round led by pop star Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. The round includes Trousdale Ventures, Beechwood Capital, and NNS Capital. The brand sells a shelf-stable flavored lemon water.
